Tips on Tuesday

For today’s Tip on Tuesday, we’re going to chat a little about one of the free tools on Facebook you can use to help keep your company visible.

Why not ask your clients or customers to “check in” on Facebook when they visit you?  Many people really like this tool on Facebook, and use it almost like a diary.

Whilst you’re not actively doing any marketing and therefore using none of your marketing budget, it does mean that friends of your client see where they’re checking in and notice your name.  And being noticed is so, so valuable!

See you next time!

In a previous Tip on Tuesday (which you can read here) we spoke about the important of your company profile on LinkedIn.

In addition, we really want to emphasise how important your personal profile is on LinkedIn, especially if you’re the face of the business.

Make sure your bio is snappy and informative, make sure all your contact information is up to date and that all your experience is reflected.

It is pointless having an amazing company profile if your personal profile lets you down.  You want to wow potential contacts and make them want to get in touch to use your services!

Tips on Tuesday

Today’s Tip on Tuesday is a generic social media tip and in response to a question I was asked at a networking event.

Very early in our Tips on Tuesday segment, we did a post on creating a brand.  I was asked how that would fit in with using profile pictures and avatars as an advertising spot for special offers, job opportunities etc.

Make sure your logo also appears on your website and as a favicon.  You really cannot overuse that image which makes you visible.

As long as it is instantly recognisable that the account is YOU, you can’t go far wrong with your use of imagery!

For today’s tip we’re going to take a look at Facebook profiles

Facebook Aire Media BlogIt is really important to ensure that your company information is as complete as possible on Facebook.  A lot of people think because it is “only” Facebook that this doesn’t matter, but it makes a good impression and is a free and easy way of getting all your relevant information in the public domain.

Make sure your profile includes your website address, your location, your opening hours and a concise description of what your business does.  It is also important that when you’re choosing the relevant business type you choose the most appropriate.

Remember a good Facebook profile makes a good first impression!  It also makes it easy for your customers and potential customers to find you.  Isn’t that great?!

A small but often overlooked bit of advice for today’s Tip on Tuesday

TwitterTipsAireMedia

Twitter lends itself perfectly for multiple people to use the same company account.

It is a nice touch for each person who uses the account to sign off their tweets with their initials.  Whilst giving the company account a more personal touch, this also means that customers know who they have spoken to and are able to connect via other methods to the company and ask for the person they want.  Customers like continuity, especially when it makes their life much easier – and as a result makes it much easier for them to buy your service or product!

A pinned tweet or indeed the company bio is the perfect place to name who is using the Twitter account.

LinkedIn in a great way of networking if your marketing model is business to business.

Keep your company profiles spruced up.  That isn’t to say you need to have masses of content.  But keep what you have fresh and current.

Make sure your logo is on your page together with your employees’ details.  Ensure all contact details are up to date and your website is clearly linked.

Make it easy for potential customers to contact the person they need to!  The easier it is for them, the more likely they are to do it!

For today’s Tip on Tuesday we’re going to work with Pinterest.

Pinterest is a really great way of showing your company’s personality.  You can afford to be a little frivolous on Pinterest.

Why not create boards for all your employees to share the things they love.  It changes a faceless company into a group of people potential customers can really relate to because their personality shines through.

It’s great to be professional.  It is brilliant to be professional with personality.

Today in Tips on Tuesday we’re going to visit Facebook

It is really important to remember that on Facebook short posts stand out.  In a channel where there isn’t a character limit, the one liner posts can be eye-catching and of course read in seconds which means you have customer engagement.

Long messages CAN work but they MUST be compelling.  If they’re not exciting enough, people won’t finish reading the post and your message will not get through.

Keep it concise and informative.  Grab people.  Once you have made the initial connection, then you can start having more lengthy conversation.

Tips on Tuesday

For today’s Tip on Tuesday we’re going to advise on something that can be applied to all your social media channels.

I am sure you will have all been followed by accounts on your social media platforms that promise “1000 followers for $10” and other variations.

Our advice is simply don’t.  You won’t be buying real followers, it will just be a raft of accounts specifically created for this purpose.  If you buy a large number of followers, the quality of your audience will be diluted and the impact of your posts will diminish.

Never has the old saying “quality over quantity” been more apt.
