Tips on Tuesday

Twitter lends itself perfectly for multiple people to use the same company account.

It is a nice touch for each person who uses the account to sign off their tweets with their initials.  Whilst giving the company account a more personal touch, this also means that customers know who they have spoken to and are able to connect via other methods to the company and ask for the person they want.

Customers like continuity, especially when it makes their life much easier – and as a result makes it much easier for them to buy your service or product!

Remember what is the ultimate goal on social media – regular engagement from your followers to create a really strong online brand.

An important consideration when dealing with your social media schedule is how you are going to manage your notifications.  Whether you receive a message, or someone comments on one of your posts it is important to respond in a reasonable amount of time.  Even if you choose a tool like an automated message response on Facebook, a timely reply from a real person is still important.

If you don’t want notifications turned on – which is understandable if you are getting a large number – why not set aside some blocks of time each day to deal with and respond to notifications?

You can also use the various analytical tools to monitor which of your posts gets most interaction, which will enable you to manage notifications more thoroughly.

So we’ve all pretty much got that “back to school” feeling.

September is a great time to ensure your skills are up to date, you’re aware of any changes to the algorithms for your social media channels and you’re using the most current version.

It can also be a great time to think about developing your skills. If you feel like you would like to improve your skills, there are plenty of online courses (both free and otherwise!) that do just that.

Remember, back to school isn’t just the literal – it is a metaphor for getting back into the swing of things. And whether that is simply returning to the office after a holiday, returning for the first time after an extended absence due to Covid it will feel new, and strange and take you a while to settle.

Good luck to you all!
