Emojis…just for kids right? WRONG!!

Emojis

Did you know the use of a relevant emoji can increase engagement on Tweets by up to 25%, whilst using them on Facebook can increase likes and comments or shares by 57% and 33% respectively.

Love them or hate them, emojis can certainly be a useful tool to have at your disposal.  Why not try adding pertinent emojis to your social media posts and monitor whether your interactions improve!

Tips on Tuesday

If you’re on Twitter, you might find it useful to take advantage of local “hours”.

ClockHourThese are regular hours each week where you can tweet the host account or tweet with the relevant hashtag included, and your tweet will be retweeted to (a) everyone following the host account and (b) to everyone following the appropriate hashtag.

Local hours are a great way of getting your message across to a lot of people.  We also like the fact that the time slot is the same every week – which is vitally important when sorting your social media planning.

Some of the local hours or accounts you might find useful in the Aire Media region are: –

Monday

#OurYorkshire (@OurYorkshire) 8pm – 9pm (first Monday of every month)

#HarrogateHour (@Harrogatehour) 8pm – 9pm

Tuesday

#BingleyHour (@Bingley_Hour) 8pm – 9pm (first Tuesday of every month)

#GuiseleyHour (@guiseleyhour) 8pm – 9pm

Wednesday

#YorkshireHour (@yorkshire_hour) 8pm – 9pm

#LeedsHour (@LeedsHour) 8pm – 9pm

Thursday

#OtleyHour (@OtleyHour) 7pm – 8pm

#BradfordHour (@BradfordHour) 8pm – 9pm (first Thursday of every month)

Friday

#IlkleyHour (@ilkleyhour) 1pm – 2pm

If we’ve missed any, or you curate an hour you’d like us to feature, do let us know!!

Happy e-networking!!

Tips on Tuesday

We’ve often spoken about the importance of having a social media plan.

Spontaneity

A plan is one of the most important things to consider when working with your social media strategy.  However, that doesn’t – or shouldn’t – mean that you need to lose all spontaneity with your posting.

If something happens in your industry that you want to respond to, or even a national event don’t miss out on the opportunity to be part of something because a post wasn’t planned.

The best social media plans lay a framework whilst leaving room for spontaneity and personality!

How can you use your social media to best communicate with current customers and new customers?

Group pic

Facebook gives you the option of connecting a group to a business page and for some business types this can be a really great way of being able to give information to your current customers, whilst not spamming your feed with posts that aren’t relevant to new customers.

Of course that isn’t to say there won’t be some crossover of content, however keeping “admin” style posts in a group will keep your Facebook timeline more streamlined with valuable content.  Of course, don’t forget to invite your existing customers to the group so they see the information.

Facebook groups really foster great communication between larger numbers of people, and can be a great way of building up a real community surrounding your brand.

Tips on Tuesday

You know the old saying “you can’t be all things to all people”?

Well that’s true of social media too!

narrow

When creating your content, really try to narrow down your audience to the most important group and direct your content specifically for them.  If it appeals to other people, that’s a bonus, but instead of trying to create generic content all the time, don’t be afraid to create really specific content to appeal to your potential ideal customer!
