Tips on Tuesday

Back with a slightly more sensible Tip on Tuesday than “don’t break your foot” but one that can be applied to all your social media channels.

Every message you send out is marketing.  You might not think it, especially if you’re not directly advertising a service, but each time you make a comment on any of your social media channels you are representing your business and therefore marketing it.  With that in mind make sure your messages are well presented and structured and make a valuable contribution.

Remember though, contribution isn’t necessarily directly about your business, simply a valid and relevant or even personally interesting comment.

Tips on Tuesday

Today’s tip is an important one (well aren’t they all?!) that can be applied to all your social media channels.

It can be really tempting to buy followers – after all the most successful accounts are the ones with most followers and therefore most reach, but you need to remember that the number of followers isn’t as important as the number of followers with which you have a meaningful engagement.  Your end aim is to engage and drive people to your website and buying followers will not achieve this – you will end up with a raft of fake account followers which won’t increase that all important engagement.

Don’t forget a sudden increase in followers with no apparent reason could well look suspicious and harm your reputation.

Increase your followers by great content, active participation in discussions and being visible.

Today’s tip on Tuesday can be – and should be – applied to all your social media channels.

It is really important that you don’t flood your networks with spam.   That isn’t to say you can’t post regularly – if you have something important or fun to say, then by all means say it!  But don’t post for the sake of posting.  There is nothing more annoying to a potential customer than seeing constant, irrelevant content.

Live by the old adage, “it is quality not quantity!”

Tips on Tuesday

Today’s Tip on Tuesday can really be applied to any of your social media channels.

Today’s tip is really simple.  When you’re on social media don’t mistake a public reply for a private message!  It is really important to ensure that potentially sensitive content is kept off your timelines.

To avoid this, once a conversation with a prospective customer is ready to move to DM I simply send a message and ask for an email address so I can take any discussions fully away from social media to prevent any mishaps!

Tips on Tuesday

Today’s tip is something that can be applied to all your social media channels.

Scheduling tools can be a very valuable resource when you’re managing a number of social media accounts and mean that you can ensure you have a presence even when it is impossible for you to be online.

However, it is vital to ensure that you also maintain a live online presence – don’t rely on scheduling tools to do it all for you.  Ensure you regularly login to all your social media accounts to deal with queries, to make use of industry specific current affairs and to make it appear that your account has a personality.  It is really easy to tell which social media accounts are done solely via scheduling.

Don’t forget to have your website linked from your social media profile and vice versa.  You want to make it easy for people to find you – don’t make them work for it!  Make sure your social media channels are linked from your website (and do ensure they open in a new tab/window!) and make sure your social media profiles contain at the very least an obvious website link.

Don’t be bashful – be seen!

Have them on your business cards, flyers, website etc.  If you have a presence you want to use it and drive people to find you.  Don’t make potential clients or customers work to find you.  Make it easy for them and it will pay off!
