Tips on Tuesday

Today’s tip is very simply, have a rest!

RestTake some time off over the festive season to relax, recharge your batteries and ensure you’re refreshed to start 2020.  Don’t be afraid to have some time away from your social media channels over holiday times!

Yes, you can put the phone down and enjoy some freedom!

Tips on Tuesday

As we continue to wind down the year by prepping for next, it’s the best time to consider your social media strategy.

Repeat imageDon’t be afraid to repeat what works!

Over time you will notice patterns as to what content gets the most favourable response.  A good response shows good engagement, which is what you’re aiming for.  Use the analytics you have available to note which posts work best and repeat that type of posting.  Make social media work for you!

Tips on Tuesday

Don’t be afraid to harness the season!

Christmas Tree

Have a think of some creative ways you can bring some festive fun into your social media marketing.   Why not have a festive photo competition; ask your followers to show pictures of your products in the most festive way possible – have a prize for the best one.

We’d love to hear your ideas about how you make your timelines more fun at this time of year!

Tips on Tuesday

Oh it’s only November, there’s plenty of time……then you realise that Christmas Eve is four weeks today!

Open Sign

It is very likely your working hours will be affected by the Christmas break.  Make decisions on when you will be open and available for contact and start rolling out the information to your online profiles now.

People are busy over Christmas – that’s a fact.  If you want to maintain attracting customers over the Christmas period, you need to give them the information as soon as possible so they can factor you into their plans!

Tips on Tuesday

At this time of year we always recommend starting to consider your social media strategy for next year.

Goal image

As with all good strategies, you first need a goal.  Now is the time to decide what your social media goals are for the upcoming period.  Do you want to increase awareness of your brand? Do you want to engage more with current customers? Do you want to increase your audiences? Do you want to convert your audiences into customers? Do you want to become an influencer in your field?

You cannot begin to create a firm strategy for your social media channels without knowing what you’re aiming for!  Don’t forget, the goal isn’t set is stone and can be amended throughout the year by regularly reviewing your strategies.

Step one, decide upon your goal!!

Tips on Tuesday

There are only two sorts of people on social media, those who want more followers and those who are lying!

Slow

I’m often asked by clients how they can quickly increase their followers.  The short answer is, you can’t!

Social media is very much a slow burn.   Much like real life, relationships take time to foster and build; and these relationships need to be built before you can turn your followers into paying customers.   When you decide upon a social media strategy, you must acknowledge the need to commit for not only weeks, but months and even years.

Remember, the number of likes and followers you have is nothing more than a measure of vanity.  What is important to you is the quality of follower – 100 followers who are engaged, are interested and who interact are of far more value than 1000 followers who are not!

Tips on Tuesday

Did you know it is just 10 weeks tomorrow until Christmas Day (sorry….sorry!)

Christmas

Use your time wisely! Make sure you have relevant social media goals for the next 10 weeks with a firm idea of what you want to achieve before Christmas.  As always given the time constraints, make sure your goals are achievable!

Don’t be afraid to share your company’s Christmas traditions across social media – giving yourself a little more personality at this time of year can be a really good thing.

It is also important to schedule in a break! Don’t be afraid to take some time off from your social media schedule over the festive season, with a view to coming back refreshed and ready to go in January!

You have 10 weeks….how are YOU going to use them?

Tips on Tuesday

Do you ever feel tempted to write really long posts on Facebook simply because there isn’t a character limit?

STOP!!

Quality

It is such a cliché but it is so true, it really is quality over quantity.  Don’t fall into the trap of feeling you have to fill space.  Short, snappy posts work as well on Facebook as other platforms.  Did you know the ideal length of a Facebook post is 40 – 80 characters; post that are less than 80 characters receiving on average 88% more engagement.

Obviously your post must make sense, but look at using language creatively for shorter Facebook content.

Tips on Tuesday

Only a short one today, but vitally important.

Window

Do make sure that any and every link you have on your website opens in a new window!

Such a small thing, but often overlooked.  If you add a link and it opens in the window you’re in all you’re doing it directing your traffic AWAY from you and elsewhere.  By opening in a new window, you do at least keep your web visitors on your page whilst adding further offerings for them!

Tips on Tuesday

Remember to make use of all the tools social media platforms offer you for making the most out of them!

One of our favourites is the option on Facebook to view your page as a visitor.

Visitor

It gives you the opportunity to take an objective look at your page to ensure you have completed it as fully as possible and that you’re getting across the information you want.  It is always a good idea to regularly check your profile in this manner to make sure your Call to Action buttons are working, your messenger options are working and that your posts work well on a timeline.

You can find the option by navigating to your business page, clicking the button marked with three dots in the menu bar under the cover photo and selecting  the “view as page visitor” option.
