Sometimes “short and sweet” is all you need!

Did you know 85% of Facebook videos are watched without sound? That means your immediate action needs to be to make your video offering compelling without audio.

Ensure any speech is subtitled – not only does this mean you can capture those watching in silence through choice, but also people with hearing impairments; accessibility of content is such good practice!

Make your videos short, fun and above all on brand; sharing your message by image only. Of course this is a challenge, but one that will be worth it!

Did you know that YouTube isn’t just a website, it’s a search engine?  And in fact it is the second largest search engine behind Google!

Video productionThat statistic alone should encourage you to use video on your social channels including a branded YouTube channel.

Video is a fantastic tool to hook your audience simply because they’re very easy to consume. Social media success lies in your ability to condense information down into easily digestible snippets of content that is long enough to maintain viewers’ attention but short enough to leave them wanting more; and what better way to do this than a video!

Whilst a huge budget on video content isn’t necessary, do make sure your social media videos have decent picture quality and clear sound quality!

Try creating a small (no more than 60 seconds), but relevant video for your social media channels, give it an engaging title and useful hashtags and measure your performance using the analytical tools available!

If you’ve turned to more online content during the lockdown period and are creating your own videos, there are some simple tips you should consider.

Stripes

If you’re the subject of the video, be careful to choose your clothes wisely!  Stripes, spots or other busy patterns can cause an effect known as moiré.  This can appear as wavy lines or a rippling effect and cause a disturbing visual experience for your viewers.

Avoid this by choosing garmets without patterns and stick to block colours.

Hands up who loves the thought of using video on your social media channels but never gets around to it?!  Did you know that it is estimated that by 2022, online videos will account for more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic?

Video Camera

Short videos are a really great way to grab people’s attention on social media and drive interaction and conversation.   Social media success lies very much in your ability to share worthwhile content in small chunks, and videos should be no different.

Videos are a great way of increasing your brand exposure.  After all if a picture is worth a thousand words, imagine what a video would be worth?!  Whilst you don’t need to spend a fortune on a professional video, you must make sure your images are sharp and the sound quality is good.  You don’t want to damage your image by sharing substandard content.

Videos are a great way of giving your business some personality, and allowing viewers to see the people and processes behind your brand.   Human interest can drive interaction in a much more positive way than purely sales-based posts.

Why not give yourself a challenge, pick up your video camera and get shooting!
