Tips on Tuesday

A more positive Tip than last week’s today and one that can apply to all your social media marketing (and indeed can be extrapolated to apply to your full marketing plan).

Our Tip on Tuesday today is do a regular audit of your marketing strategy.  Don’t be satisfied with simply posting on social media, regularly take the time to find out what works well, what doesn’t work so well and whether any of your posts created problems.

In order to keep a fresh and vibrant social media presence you need to ensure your profiles are the best they can be, so do take time once a month to review and reflect and make those changes to keep you ahead of the game.

See you next week – and happy reviewing!

For today’s tip we are giving a little general advice.

controversy definition

Stay away from controversial topics.  Even if your view isn’t offensive you run the risk of getting drawn into conversations you might not want to be in.

It is imperative to keep a squeaky clean profile than will ensure your brand has respect and your voice carries weight within your sector.

Way back in one of our first Tips on Tuesday we talked about keeping business and personal profiles separate and I think now is a good time to remind you of the importance of just that.  That isn’t to say your business profile can’t have a personal touch, but just keep the contentious topics for your own timeline!

See you next week.

Tips on Tuesday

Last week we spoke about resharing content on Facebook in this post.

For today’s Tip we are visiting the same topic on Twitter.  Last week, Twitter announced that they were making it possible for users to retweet their own content, which makes sharing your posts much easier.

Don’t be afraid to share your content again with a “have you seen this” or “we spoke about this here”.  As long as you don’t spam your followers it is a perfectly valid marketing tool to ensure what you have said is seen.

For today’s tip we are looking at Facebook

Don’t forget that Facebook algorithms are such that not everyone will see your posts.  Don’t be afraid to re-share content.  The key is not to spam your followers so by all means re-post a message you have already used, but change the wording, add a different image etc.

And don’t forget, a share and interaction is key to getting yourself visible.

See you next time.

Tips on Tuesday

For today’s tip we’re visiting something very small but very important.  The favicon.

Favicon Aire Media Bingley

So what is a favicon?  A favicon (short for favourite icon) is an icon associated with a particular website.  This is usually displayed in the address bar of a browser or next to the site name in a user’s list of bookmarks.

Are they important?  We think yes, they are!  Whilst a very small thing and not essential to the running of a site they show an attention to detail which makes your company stand out.  From a branding point of view, favicons are vital as they make your brand appear even in the tiniest spaces.

So – this week we are setting some homework.  If you haven’t got a favicon, make sure you have by next week!  They are very easy to create yourself by using a free web tool.

Twitter Rings in the Changes

Following a disappointing uptake in new users, Twitter have announced a number of changes to their platform to try to encourage people to use it.

Probably the most significant change will be that photos, videos and gifs will no longer be included in the 140 character limit.  On a similar vein, usernames will also be exempt from the limit.

Tweets beginning with an “@” sign will now be visible to all followers and you will, in future have the ability to retweet and quote yourself.

I think in particular the exemption of multimedia and usernames from the character limit is an interesting idea, meaning every one of the 140 characters can be used for useful content.

I look forward to seeing the response to these changes and whether they will indeed signal a change in fortune for Twitter.

Tips on Tuesday

Today’s tip is a bit more generic than usual but an important one we think.

Aire Media Word Cloud

Today we would like to impress upon you all the benefits of digital marketing.   A small part of digital marketing is social media which gives you the chance to reach a large market.  And best of all, if your budget is small you can – with careful usage – do this for free!

Social media is a free, instantly accessible global market.  And the best thing is that it is measurable with analytics tools, so you can see whether what you’re doing is working and what you need to change or do better.

Even if you don’t have a large marketing budget do make sure you tap into the digital marketing sector and get yourselves online, out there and be a global brand.

See you next week!

Morning folks, that time again!

Today’s tip is really more of a question.   How many of you have a blog?  And if you do, how many of you update it regularly?

Pic of WordPress Blog

Blogging is a really useful way of gaining interest in you as a brand because you’re saying more than a character limit or a social media post can.   Blogs can be newsworthy, can be about your products or even just a stream of your – hopefully sentient – thoughts.

If you want to use blogging as a way to grow your business, there is no hard and fast rule as to how often you should blog.  Your best option is to make a realistic schedule and stick to it.  You can always add more posts if you find the time.  Most experts in the field suggest once a week as a minimum is a great rule of thumb.

So get blogging and show me what you’ve got!
