Tips on Tuesday

Whilst creating content is key across your social media platforms, there are of course those days when inspiration simply doesn’t strike.

A really great way to help you out on those days when you’re suffering a bout of writer’s block is to create a social media calendar.  Quite simply pull together a list of dates that mixes key dates that are important to your business (maybe a sale, a new product launch, the anniversary of your opening) and more national dates you can have fun with e.g. National Cup of Tea Day, National Biscuit Day.

Dates like these give an immediate way to create content and have fun when you might be struggling for something to say.  Followers like to see the people they follow have fun, so don’t be afraid to let loose and create some great new content for dry spells!

Let us know what your favourite social media day to celebrate is, the more unusual the better!

Social media…

noun

noun: social media; plural noun: social medias

  1. websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

The great thing about social media is that it is, well, inherently social. To that end, remember that your content does not just have to be created by one person or department.

Involve your entire team in your content creation; it is a great way of getting a fresh perspective, a new tone and helping your audience get to know all the valuable members of your team.

Be creative with it – why not set aside one particular day a month as “takeover day” and let your team really make their mark on your channels.

Although it seems a bit of a cliche, don’t be afraid to harness the season!

Christmas Tree

Have a think of some creative ways you can bring some festive fun into your social media marketing.   Why not have a festive photo competition; ask your followers to show pictures of your products in the most festive way possible – have a prize for the best one.

Some great festive content is a really simple way of making use of what is going on around you – and some trending topics – to engage with current and new followers.  Whilst the way we celebrate Christmas may look a little different this year, and the way you engage with your customers in person might need to be within certain parameters, you can be as creative as you want on your social media.

We’d love to hear your ideas about how you make your timelines more fun at this time of year!

Remember to have fun with your social media feeds.

FunIf things have been different for you during lockdown, and you’re not yet in a position to reopen your business you might be running out of relevant content for your social media feeds.

Don’t be afraid to create posts not directly relevant to your business and especially try and have fun.  Tapping into trending topics can be useful – if it’s #NationalBiscuitDay why not share yours? Create a poll of several options and encourage your followers to interact.

Are you using the time away from normality to rearrange your premises or carry out essential repairs? Don’t forget to document these for your followers.

Why not share images of your work at home space or share tips that work for you for efficient working.

Remember if it isn’t offensive, there’s no such thing as wrong content.  Have a play, have fun and populate your timelines!
